The vineyards, located at the foot of the Reggio Emilia hills, cover an area of about 20 hectares.
We have abandoned the old traditional training systems and are moving towards more innovative solutions to try to contain the natural exuberance of the vines in order to obtain higher quality grapes. Thanks to the grassing of the areas between one row and another, the harvested grapes achieve a better balance, which improves quality. Underneath the rows, we have eliminated the use of weed-killers in favour of mechanical tillage. Treatments and fertilisation are kept to a minimum, in compliance with Integrated Production regulations.
As far as the cultivated vines are concerned, in recent years we have focused on growing old autochthonous vines, such as Malbo Gentile, Spergola, Lambrusco Oliva, to rediscover old flavours now lost.
Alongside these, we grow classic Lambrusco and some “international” varieties (Sauvignon, Cabernet Sauvignon).
Our main varieties are:
• Red grapes: Lambruschi (Marani, Maestri, Grasparossa, Oliva), Malbo Gentile, Ancellotta, Croatina, Marzemino, Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon.
• White grapes: Spergola, Malvasia, Sauvignon
